Advanced Networking Remote Management and CIM

Question: Describe about the Advanced Networking for Remote Management and CIM. Answer: Aim: The aim of the project is: To set up new users and its associated folders using the Windows PowerShell To get and overview of its technology and architecture used for designing Purpose of the technology The purposes of the technology can be understood from the following points: Providing a platform for minimizing the complexity for operating and managing multi machinery environments (Wilson, 2013) Providing the ability for robust task execution despite the failure of the reboot, network connections, and crashes Making workflow available for the existing Windows PowerShell by hosting them in the powershell environment Providing the scalable performance and decreasing the complexity for the users for the runtime (Jones Hicks, 2013) Supporting the delegation for the administration of the active directory and network system Description and Architecture Description: The Windows PowerShell has been integrated with the workflow and it has helped in understanding the robust multi machine working of the Windows PowerShell (Subramanya Iyengar, 2016). The Windows PowerShell is used as a task automation and framework for configuration management. The technology is based on .Net framework including the scripting language and command line shell. It has been designed by Microsoft for quickly solving the monotonous task of administration for the user management. For example the Windows PowerShell can be used for displaying all the USB drives of the computer system. It also helps in operating time consuming task in background mode. The power shells are useful for assisting the user with Active Directory (Jones Hicks, 2013). It increases the productivity when cmdlets (hundreds of customizable commands) are being used. Architecture: The Windows PowerShell architecture can execute four types of commands like cmdlets, Powershell scripts, Powershell functions, and executable programs. The architecture diagram for the Windows PowerShell is provided below- Figure 1: Architecture Diagram for the Windows PowerShell (Source: Chaganti, 2014, pp-72) Uses and application The uses and applications for the Windows PowerShell are: Reporting all the USB devices installed in the system- The WMI of the Windows PowerShell can be used for retrieving the list of USB devices in the computer and wireless system (Menon, 2013) Performing the command prompt tasks- Windows PowerShell can be used for doing all the tasks of DOS command prompt. It would help in understanding the interface more clearly and the Windows PowerShell can be used for launching the three letter launcher that is unavailable in DOS. Killing a task or process- Just like the Task Manager, the Windows PowerShell can be used for killing or ending any task or process such as BadThread.exe Viewing more than just drives- The Windows PowerShell can be used for viewing the Windows environment too and not just the traditional network, removable device, or local hard drives (Menon, 2013). Exporting the NTFS folder- The Windows PowerShell can be used for exporting the NTFS folder without the requirement of the permission from the user. Advantages and disadvantages ADVANTAGES DISADVANTAGES The primary advantage of using the Windows PowerShell is its speed and uses. It can be used for managing the servers and active directory of the device. It is object based which is the greatest disadvantage of the Windows PowerShell. The text based commands cannot be relied upon for getting the writing of the scripts job done. It supports the .NET objects and forms within its system. The Microsoft administrator system is the base of the Windows PowerShell. Hence it focuses more on the administration of the system rather than the workstations. Another major flaw of the Windows PowerShell is the security risks. It can be used as a way for remotely connecting with other devices and servers. It creates chance for incoming malwares and viruses to attack the system. It has a very powerful pipeline based on the objects of the system. The Windows PowerShell even has a command module for supporting the system. The Windows PowerShell require web server for utilizing all of its function. It is another drawback of the Windows PowerShell. It would consume additional space in the system. Table 1: Advantages and disadvantages of Windows PowerShell (Source: Garrett, 2013, pp-71) Alternate technologies (PowerGUI) The PowerGUI can be used as an alternative for the Windows PowerShell (Mahapatro, 2013). Most of the work done by the Windows PowerShell can be also completed by using the PowerGUI. Comparison of alternate technologies PowerGUI can perform most of the operations done by the Windows PowerShell. It helps in editing and executing the network scripts. The PowerGUI even has debugging feature for the network admin (Mahapatro, 2013). It also assists in browsing the exchange server, active directory, network, local, and remote systems. The PowerGUI has better user interface and provide good text editing environment. References Chaganti, R. (2014). Introducing windows remote management and CIM.
